It is the holiday season, and you are vacationing on Anna Maria Island for Christmas or New Years.
You will not be disappointed. AMI has a lot to offer – warm weather and no snow or black ice on the roads. The average temperature normally ranges from 65 to 75 degree this time of the year. The waters in the Gulf of Mexico are too cold for swimming, however many resort rentals have heated swimming pools for their guest.
Many people and their families have come to the island and the beaches to escape the cold temperatures, snow and ice from the north this time of the year. While you may have single digit temperatures up north, on Anna Maria the temperatures are about the mid 70’s; be warned though, the gulf water temperature is about 65 degrees during our winter months.

Commercialization here on Anna Maria Island has been limited. There is only one local apartment/condo building that is over 3 stories tall. Fast food chains do not exist here. The island offers many charming and relaxing restaurants and some with beach access. Tropical and well maintained beaches are abundant on Anna Maria Island.
Rental accommodations are easily found by entering any one of the following into a search engine: rental properties and the location such as Anna Maria, Holmes Beach, Bradenton Beach or Longboat Key.
Transportation on Anna Maria Island.
As a tourist, you can really save a few dollars by NOT renting a car. Anna Maria Island offers a free trolley service that runs the length of Gulf drive all the way to Coquina Beach. The trolley runs ever 20 minutes.
The Monkey Bus is another Anna Maria Island favorite for transportation. The Monkey Bus is offered as a free service but is supported by customers paying the drivers with a tip. It is an inexpensive means of transportation that will take you most places on Anna Maria.
